The largest city park in Southern California, Huntington Beach Central Park, is 354 acres (143 ha) large and annually hosts over 8,000 people on its Cherry Blossom Festival.
The festival celebrates the Japanese American culture in all its manifestations: from music to art and food. Here you can experience traditional cuisine, sake tasting, dance troupes show, and much more. But the absolute highlight is Sakura Night Market, which starts the weekend-long celebration on Friday.
Typically, the spring is unfolding in spectacular beauty in Southern California at the beginning of March. The peak blossoming depends on the year and weather, so it is recommended to check in advance. However, the festival dates are usually the indicator of the cherry blossoming readiness.
A single-day ticket cost is 5$, while a weekend ticket is 10$. Funds raised from the festival develop a youth exchange between Huntington Beach and Anjo, Japan's sister city.
