Memorial Day is all about patriotism and commemoration of those who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. It is also the beginning of the summer festival and concert season, and Atlanta has an array of events that are suitable for all ages and tastes during this long weekend.

Salute To The Troops at Stone Mountain Park (May 25-27, 2024)

From Friday to Monday evening, commemorate the warriors with the Salute to the Troops Spectacular, also known as the Music Across America Drone & Light Show at Stone Mountain Park. This free light show is followed by fireworks, which won't leave you disappointed. The Stone Mountain laser show is accompanied by a musical tribute and starts at 9:30 pm. The Air National Guard Band of the South performs during the Friday-Sunday evenings, including a flag folding ceremony.

Atlanta Jazz Festival at Piedmont Park (May 25-27, 2024)

The Atlanta Jazz Festival at Piedmont Park has been one of the most favorite Memorial Day events for locals since the 1970s. With the lineup of world-class performers like Dianne Reeves and Matthew Whitaker, the Artist Market with arts and crafts stalls, this free festival can be your best experience during the Memorial Day Weekend.

Memorial Day Parade in Dacula (May 27, 2024)

Every year the town of Dacula hosts the Parade that features military cars, veterans, current servicemen and women, marching bands, equestrian units, and much more. The parade starts at Hebron Baptist Church parking lot at 10 am. The procession then proceeds up Hebron Church Road, crosses Broad Street, continues on Second Ave, goes left on Wilson Street, and on Dacula Road, finishing at Hebron Baptist Church. The celebration also includes a Memorial Day 5K Run in the local park.

Memorial Day in Roswell (May 27, 2024)

The town of Roswell hosts the largest Memorial Day Ceremony in Georgia, attended by 7,000 people each year. The ceremony takes place at 11:00 am at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street. Entertainment, which includes patriotic displays and music, starts at 10 am. The program features the rendition of the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, the presentation of colors, the POW/MIA tribute, and the laying of the wreath.

Memorial Day at the Marietta National Cemetery (May 27, 2024)

Marietta National Cemetery is another place to pay tribute. It hosts the official tribute ceremony dedicated to the U.S. veterans in Georgia. The event starts at 12 pm with a tribute to Veterans, patriotic music, the presentation of colors, prayers, a gun salute, and speeches. Current and retired military members lead the solemn program.

Brew at the Zoo (May 2024)

Brew at the Zoo Atlanta is a great day to spend surrounded by the animals and at the same time trying more than 70 kinds of beers and wines. Special tastings and a lounge area are open from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
