Enjoy Memorial Day Weekend with annual run and vivid festival

Like in many other cities across the United States, Memorial Day in Colorado Springs is a significant occasion to honor and remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives while serving in the military. During the long weekend, locals also visit festivals and other vibrant events with friends and family.

Colorado Springs typically hosts various events and activities to commemorate Memorial Day, such as the Air Force Academy Memorial Day Wreath Laying, the Annual Angel Run, the Meadowgrass Music Festival, the Territory Days Festival, and the Junkin Market Days Spring Event.

Air Force Academy Memorial Day Wreath Laying (late May, 2024)

The Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery is a Memorial Day tradition in the Colorado Springs community. This event pays tribute to the brave men and women who have given their lives to protect the peace and freedom of our country.

During the ceremony, participants gather to honor the fallen by laying wreaths at the gravesites of service members buried at the Air Force Academy Cemetery. This act of remembrance symbolizes the gratitude and respect for their dedication, bravery, and sacrifice in defense of their country.

Annual Angel Run (late May, 2024)

The Annual Angel Run takes place every Memorial Day and starts on the territory of The Red Leg Brewing Company. The Run contains two routes for 5k and 10k (in-personal/online), honors the memory of fallen soldiers, and aims to help their families. All earnings will go to Angels of America’s Fallen to aid in fulfilling their objective of assisting children of fallen soldiers and first responders by providing opportunities through sports, music, and artistic endeavors. The Annual Angel Run participants can also try food from local vendors and listen to live music. Ticket prices will be announced closer to the event.

Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival (May 24-26, 2024)

The 15th Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival is family-friendly event that marks the start of summer in Pikes Peak area. Spanning the entire Memorial Day Weekend from Friday to Sunday, it has gained recognition for its capacity to attract up-and-coming artists from both the local scene and around the world. Daily Festival Pass costs from $79.00 to $89.00, depending on the day of the festival. Child's Festival Pass (12 and Under)—free, Weekend passes, and Military discounts are also available.

In 2024, Festival will introduce the 6th edition of the MeadowGrass Beer Festival and the 4th edition of the Steve Harris Songwriter of the Year Contest (open to individuals aged 18 and under), enriching the event with extra elements of enjoyment. In addition to musical performances, guests can join guided hikes, serene yoga sessions, enriching workshops, and electrifying late-night shows.

Territory Days Fair (May 25-27, 2024)

Organizers call Territory Days the largest Colorado's street fair, which has been held for more than 45 years. Territory Days offers visitors hundreds of unique vendors with craftwork from around the world. Guests can enjoy delicious food, patriotic tributes, live performances from 25 bands on three stages, and educational displays. Territory Days Fair also features a mechanical bull, Cowboy Church Service, Native American dancers, toy train rides, period costumed characters, gold panning, live birds of prey, beer gardens with live music, and a kids' playground. You can visit all events on Saturday and Sanday from 10 am to 7 pm and on Monday from 10 am to 6 pm in the historic district on Colorado Avenue between 23rd Street and 27th Street. Fair Admission is absolutely free for all ages.
