New Orleans Memorial Day Weekend Events 2024
Welcome summer in The Crescent City with an array of fun-filled activities
Dates: May 24–27, 2024
Memorial Day is a solemn celebration of servicemen and women who lost their lives while defending America. New Orleans is a popular destination during the last weekend of spring thanks to nice weather and a plethora of fun activities for the whole family: picnics, BBQs, and live music events at various outdoor venues.
Chalmette Battlefield Cruise
The Chalmette Battlefield historic river cruise is one way to commemorate the fallen soldiers and spend the day outdoors. Chalmette Battlefield is the site for the 1815 battle of New Orleans between the British and the American armies. The American garrison defended the river approach to New Orleans, and the British army had to withdraw. A two-and-a-half-hour tour aboard Creole Queen Paddlewheeler by a licensed historian can guide you through the most significant events of New Orleans history 300 years ago while you relax with a refreshing cocktail and marvel at Mississippi River views.
