Nashville is a popular Memorial Day Weekend destination thanks to beautiful spring weather and vibrant music scene. Memorial Day Weekend is also a great occasion to get out of the crowded bars in downtown Nashville and experience Nashville lakes, parks, or pontoon party cruises. The boats depart from Riverfront Dock East several times per day.

Memorial Day landmarks

Those seeking a more patriotic experience can visit the statue of Andrew Jackson, America's 7th president, in Victory Park as well as a World War II Memorial in nearby Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. The historic War Memorial Auditorium, located in front of the Tennessee State Capitol, is another landmark that shouldn't be missed. Stop by the Plaza in front of the Auditorium, hosting the Korean War monument, built by Russ Faxon in 1992, and the Vietnam War monument, created by Alan LeQuire in 1986.

Stones River National Cemetery Memorial Day Flag Placement (May 25, 2024)

Every year, on the eve of Memorial Day, volunteers and youth organizations place American flags on more than 7,000 graves at Stones River National Cemetery. This ceremony usually takes place from 9 am through 1 pm. Parking is available near the visitor center. Volunteers can check in, receive flags, and get section assignments at the walk-in entrance to Stones River National Cemetery.

Honor The Fallen 5K Memorial Mile and After-party (May 11, 2024)

Honor The Fallen 5K Memorial Mile & After-party is an annual run, held to honor America's fallen heroes and heal the wounds of war for veterans and their families. Proceeds from registration fees go to Memories of Honor. Participants can run or walk a 5K distance, get Fallen Hero Memorial bibs, and enjoy an after-party with live music and BBQ. The event starts at 8 am at The Grove Living, 6200 Wildings Blvd, College Grove.

DJ Block Party—Memorial Day Edition (May 27, 2024)

DJ Block Party—Memorial Day Edition is an annual event, featuring local DJs from Clarksville and Nashville, along with delicious food trucks and vendors. The party takes place at Love Bistro, 1009 S. Riverside Dr. Clarksville, TN.

Nashville Shores Fireworks (May 26, 2024)

The summer season always starts with a bang at Nashville Shores, a waterpark and adventure course located on Percy Priest Lake in Hermitage. Thanks to the beautiful reflections on the water, fireworks at Nashville Shores are very popular with families. Guests can enjoy the fireworks with a day admission to the park or a season pass. The pyrotechnic show starts at about 8:30 p.m. Concessions will be available in the area.
