Nashville offers excellent 4th of July events to celebrate America's independence, but if you're looking for a change to the capital city's buzz, consider going to one of its suburbs. Hendersonville, located 22 miles (35 km) to the northeast, is a great choice. The city hosts an annual Freedom Festival in Drakes Creek Park on the Sunday closest to the Fourth. People call it simply Hendersonville Fireworks, even though this free, family-friendly event is more than just fireworks. The event is held from 5 to 10 pm.
