Peoria, a city in central Illinois, set on the Illinois River, hosts one of the top fireworks shows in the country. Red, White, and Boom is the annual fireworks display, which occurs on America's Independence Day. The event attracts about 200,000 spectators to the Peoria and East Peoria riverfront.

Red, White, and Boom is an impressive 30-minute show with about 2,000 shells launched per minute. Seven radio stations organize the show in conjunction with the Peoria Park District. The celebration, boasting over 30 years of history, attracts many visitors to Peoria. The organizers claim that this fireworks display ranks among the top 2% in the USA. The fireworks start at 9:30 pm.

West Peoria 4th of July Parade (July 4, 2024)

The annual West Peoria 4th of July Parade is another highlight of the celebration. The procession sets off at 10 am and goes through the streets of West Peoria. Entertainment also includes flag raising and top performers, like Joe Stamm Band with Nick Sizemore or Tom Petty, appearing at CEFCU Center Stage @ The Landing and at Liberty Park.

Galena Independence Day Celebration (July 4, 2024)

Galena is located 155 miles (250 km) from Peoria, but if you are not afraid of such a trip, you will be rewarded with a grand celebration that will remain in your memory for a long time. America's Birthday in Downtown Galena is presented by the Kiwanis Club of Galena. Free events feature live entertainment, food, and beverages. A parade starts at 5:30 p.m. on Green Street and proceeds down Main Street. The spectacular fireworks show sets off at dusk in Grant Park.
