Located at the mouth of the Portage River on Lake Erie, Port Clinton is a perfect 4th of July gateway. In addition to the great outdoors, the city offers impressive fireworks and a vibrant community celebration at Port Clinton’s Waterworks Park.
Port Clinton Independence Day Fireworks (July, 2024)
The 4th of July Fireworks Show by Pyrotechnic commonly starts at 10 pm, but there are plenty of other activities throughout the day. The 4th of July morning starts with the Star Spangled Squirt Gun Run/Walk 5K, held by the Port Clinton Fire Fighters Association along Jefferson Street. It's followed by the Classic Car Show at Adams Park and the Food Truck Feast at Trinity United Methodist Church. Live music at the Voices of Freedom Concert starts at the same location at 7 pm.
Waterworks Park features the Family Dance Party, as well as the Incredible Rubber Duck Race at Derby Pond. Buy rubber ducks to support local charities! The glorious day ends with fireworks over the scenic waterfront.
Catawba Island 4th of July Fireworks (July, 2024)
If Port Clinton's Independence Day celebration isn't enough for you, head to Catawba Island (9 miles (14.5 km) from Port Clinton) for a two-day program of festivities. Th 4th of July bash usually kicks off on July 1 and features a BBQ Cookout at the Catawba Island Club in the evening. The next day, guests can also taste various foods and enjoy an alluring fireworks display on the golf course at dusk.
