Routes of the Tour
Tour de l’Île begins and ends in Jeanne-Mance Park. The start time is usually 9:15 am. Preregistration is obligatory. Participants can choose from two routes: a regular course and a discovery course. The regular route caters to families with children or urban cyclists, offering a selection of routes spanning 15 to 31 miles (25 to 50 km). These routes traverse car-free streets, showcasing some of Montreal's most picturesque locations.
The Discovery route provides longer options ranging from 46 to 62 miles (75 to 100 km) for road bike enthusiasts. Cyclists can enjoy the traditional Tour de l’Île de Montréal route alongside numerous fellow riders on traffic-free streets. Additionally, they can extend their journey on designated streets open to traffic, enabling them to expand the distance of their urban biking experience while still relishing the pleasure of the ride.

For a regular course, the rate until May 20 for an adult ticket is $42, $36 for a Vélo Québec Member, and $8.7o for kids aged 13-17. Last minute rate, starting May 21 to June 2, is $50, $42, and $8.7, respectively. For a discovery course, the rate until May 20 for an adult ticket is $80, $69 for a Vélo Québec Member, and $17.40 for kids aged 13-17. Last minute rate, starting May 21 to June 2, is $90, $79, and $8.7, respectively. Kids aged 12 years old and under have free admission.
History of the Tour
The Tour de l’Île reached a milestone during its 1987 edition, marked by a full day of sunshine that drew 26,000 participants. This event then steadily grew in popularity, establishing itself as a June tradition and consistently attracting 45,000 participants annually from 1992 to 1997. From 1992 to 2004, Vélo Québec hosted the Tour des Enfants, a cycling event for 6- to 12-year-olds, a week before the Tour de l’Île. Now, children and teens are part of the TDÎ, with shorter routes and the colorful Tour la Nuit at night. Today, Tour de l’Île, also known as the Montréal Go Vélo, gathers around 50,000 cyclists for a ride around the island of Montréal.
