Cretan Sports Cycling offers a remarkable journey through the heart of Crete, where riders from across the globe will converge for the seventh edition of The Tour of Crete. Scheduled from October 19 to 26, 2024, this multi-stage cycling event promises an unforgettable experience, blending the elements of distance, geography, climate, and culture unique to Crete. The options for a cycling adventure include a challenge to explore the island's charms on two wheels or a solo competition with timed ascents and ranked stages.

Discovering Crete

The Tour comprises six individual stages, each presenting its own set of challenges. From traversing captivating gorges to conquering massive mountains and meandering through scenic valleys, participants will immerse themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of Crete. With a total route distance of 361 miles (581 km), every pedal stroke offers an opportunity to soak in the island's natural beauty and create lasting memories to cherish.

Registration and Prices

Riders must register through the official website registration form to participate in the event. The website provides an option to select the preferred plan, which includes the choice of participating in any of the individual stages or committing to the entire six-day event. For those opting to join for a single day, the registration fee is 90€, allowing riders to tailor their experience based on their schedule or preferences. The total registration fee for the six-stage experience is 540€.

Event Logistics and Schedule

The Tour of Crete kicks off on October 19 from the picturesque setting of Creta Beach, conveniently located just 7 miles (11 km) from Heraklion International Airport. Heraklion, the capital of Crete, serves as the perfect starting point for exploring the island's treasures. Participants must ensure their arrival at the Creta Beach Hotel in Ammoudara no later than October 18 to attend a welcome and information session. During this session, riders will receive their event kits, along with a chance to connect and prepare for the adventure ahead. The start time for each stage is 9 am.

Adventure for All

The Tour of Crete welcomes cyclists of all levels, from semi-professionals honing their skills to amateurs seeking new challenges. With three categories available—Challenge, Competitive, and Noncyclists—participants can tailor their experience to suit their preferences. From timed ascents to leisurely explorations, there's something for everyone on this exhilarating journey.

Noncyclists

Registered cyclists' friends and family who are non-cycling participants will also have a fulfilling vacation in Crete. While cyclists are on their bikes, non-cycling travelers will enjoy other enjoyable activities, such as exploring picturesque Cretan villages and towns in comfortable buses. They will be present at both the starting and finishing points to offer encouragement and welcome cyclists. After each stage, they will reunite with the cyclists and spend the remainder of the day together, enjoying shared experiences.
