Every January or February, the Clarks Summit Festival of Ice celebrates all things about winter. It brings an array of exciting events and attractions to the Scranton area in northeastern Pennsylvania. The fun-filled three-day weekend event features live music, games, horse-drawn carriage rides, the annual parade, and ice-carving demonstrations. Kids' entertainment includes face painting, storytelling, clowns, games, and various crafts.
Clarks Summit Festival of Ice Highlights
The streets of Clarks Summit turn into a winter wonderment when they become lined with over 50 ice sculptures. Ice artists create their masterpieces throughout the day so that everyone can see the winter magic up close.
Another highlight of the celebration is the Parade, which is held on the festival's opening day. The procession starts at the intersection of State Street and Grove Street. Crowds cheer when jugglers, clowns, and bands walk through downtown alongside fire trucks. The live music lineup includes over 20 acts spread at various venues.
2024's Theme
The Clarks Summit Festival of Ice in 2025 will bring an "Under the Sea" theme, offering visitors a chance to experience breathtaking marine-inspired ice sculptures, interactive exhibits, and live entertainment. Ideal for all ages, this family-friendly event promises a fun-filled winter celebration amidst captivating frozen art.
Location and Parking
Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll along State Street and the charming streets of Clarks Summit to view stunning ice sculptures. Parking is available at 101 N State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, but on-street parking is limited for the Festival of Ice. Meters are free during the festival, making it easier to explore and enjoy the frozen artistry on display.
Festival History
Held since 2004, the Clarks Summit Festival of Ice is a beautiful winter tradition that gives guests the opportunity to have fun and participate in exciting activities for free. Each edition of the festival has a theme. For example, in 2022, the theme was “Frozen Wilderness.”
