The Plymouth Ice Festival is among the most beloved winter events in the Detroit area. Each January, this Michigan celebration draws thousands of visitors to Plymouth, a charming city located about 26 miles (42 kilometers) west of Detroit. Attendees can marvel at intricately crafted ice sculptures, including interactive displays and other extraordinary creations that make the festival truly unforgettable.

Festival Highlights

Festivalgoers can witness the incredible skill and artistry of ice sculptors as they craft intricate masterpieces from blocks of ice. The festival showcases a stunning variety of sculptures, from small, detailed carvings adorning storefronts to impressive large-scale displays in Kellogg Park.

One of the favorite ice sculptures for festivalgoers is the Ice Throne. For many winter seasons, this ice carving has created the Instagram-perfect setting. Festival guests can get on top of the Ice Throne to have their picture taken.

Entertainment & Activities

The Plymouth Ice Festival features an exciting 100-foot tubing track along Ann Arbor Trail, a favorite family attraction located between Main Street and Union. Children can delight in the Ice Playground and a petting zoo, while adults enjoy watching Ice Carving Competitions or relaxing at the Ice Bar.

Downtown Plymouth transforms into a magical winter wonderland during the festival, with charming streets lined with sparkling ice sculptures, inviting stores, cozy restaurants, and luxurious spas. The festive ambiance and glittering creations create a picture-perfect scene straight out of a storybook.

Schedule

The 2025 festival is scheduled for January 31 and February 1-2. Official hours are typically Friday from 5 pm to 10 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Ice sculptures can be viewed around the clock and will remain on display after the event, weather permitting.

Tickets

The Plymouth Ice Festival is free to attend. Visitors can enjoy the beautifully crafted ice sculptures and many of the festival's activities without purchasing tickets. However, some attractions or experiences may have associated costs.
