The Fire and Ice Festival in Somerset is a captivating winter event held every weekend just before Martin Luther King Day, offering something for everyone. The streets of Uptown are transformed with over 50 space-themed ice sculptures and an exciting ice slide, creating a magical atmosphere for visitors of all ages.

The Somerset Fire & Ice Festival promises an unforgettable weekend filled with activities for all ages. Across three days, enjoy 50 dazzling space-themed ice sculptures by Mastro Ice Company lining Uptown streets. Begin your journey at the Fire & Ice Headquarters (109 E. Main St.), where you can pick up pins and souvenirs and vote in the Window & Interior Decorating Contest. The Indoor Winter Marketplace showcases over 30 artisans, while horse-drawn carriage rides add a magical touch. The festival features live ice carving, a free ice slide in Trinity Park, and a food truck lineup offering diverse treats.
Don't miss Friday's Berlin Trike Club Show, live music, and spectacular fireworks on the Diamond. Saturday highlights include an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, the 27th Annual Fire & Ice 5K, a chili and soup cook-off, and mesmerizing fire dancing. Children will love the Barbera Law Center's space activities, the "Space Boy & The Snow Monster" story stroll, and magic shows. Sunday brings a delicious roast beef dinner by the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Throughout the weekend, visit the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s space exhibit, the Laurel Highlands Model Railroad Club display, and the used book sale at Mary S. Biesecker Library. Engage in the Frosty Crawl, a scavenger hunt, and live music performances, culminating in a truly memorable festival experience.

The festival is free to attend, but visitors can purchase the Fire & Ice Festival pin, which grants free admission to major events around town and a $2 rink admission. Be sure to plan your visit, dress in layers, and come hungry to enjoy all the food and activities on offer.
