There is no better place to get into the holiday spirit than Philadelphia Christmas Village located at LOVE Park and next to City Hall. Christmas Village traditionally opens in Philadelphia around Thanksgiving and lasts through Christmas Eve. The event features an open-air German-style Christmas Market with over 60 vendors, offering international holiday gifts, souvenirs, and festive food. Jewelry, toys, apparel, and design items are all hand-made and of the highest quality.
One of the season highlights is The Philly Holiday Tree decorated with over 3,000 lights. The 50-foot (15-m) high beauty topped with the Liberty Ball can be viewed on the north side of city hall.
Another attraction is the kids' favorite Holiday Carousel placed in the city hall courtyard. In addition to that, Christmas Village usually features a stage with live entertainment and various performances. Visitors can also meet Santa Claus and take a horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown Philadelphia to create some lasting holiday memories for their families!
In 2020, organizers have been working closely with the City of Philadelphia and the Health Department to follow guidelines and ensure safety. Christmas Village will have a modified layout to provide enough space for social distancing. Vendors will be placed at least 10 feet (3 m) apart, and only half the number of vendors will be present this year. Food and drink areas will be fenced-off and with proper spacing between tables.
