Every winter, Peoples Gas Holiday Market brings the merry bustle of traditional holiday shopping to the very heart of Pittsburgh. The holiday market usually opens on the Friday before Thanksgiving and is over by Christmas. The opening of the event usually falls close to the Pittsburgh Light Up Night, an annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which is set to be held on November 23rd this year. Throughout the season, the market opens daily at 11 am, but closing hours vary depending on the day of the week. From Monday through Thursday, the market closes at 8 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, the market operates till 9 pm and on Sundays through 6 pm. On Christmas Eve, the market is open from 11 am until 3 pm. Closings are possible due to inclement weather. The grounds are closed on Thanksgiving.
