For over 12 years, Albuquerque Comic Con has been New Mexico's premier cosplay and pop culture event. Held every January at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Downtown Albuquerque, this popular gathering attracts thousands of fans, actors, writers, artists, and cosplay enthusiasts. The convention is renowned for its vibrant mix of celebrity appearances, cosplay competitions, and interactive panels, offering something for every fan of comics, video games, movies, and TV series.

Activities and Highlights

Attendees can explore a variety of activities designed to entertain and inspire. Visitors will have access to collectibles, rare toys, artwork, and clothing in the vendor areas. A major highlight is the Masquerade Cosplay Contest, where participants can showcase their costumes through creative performances.

Celebrity interactions are a key attraction, offering fans the chance to meet stars such as Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Ashley Greene (Twilight), and many others. Panel discussions will provide fans with insights into the entertainment industry, featuring Q&A sessions with actors, writers, and illustrators. Notable panels include “How Do I Break into the Industry: Master Mentoring Session” on Sunday, January 19, focusing on career advice from industry veterans.

Additional activities include a scavenger hunt organized by Big Brothers Big Sisters, aimed at engaging younger attendees while promoting mentorship. Friday’s special “sensitivity opening” offers a quieter environment for neurodivergent children and their families.

Schedule and Program

The three-day event kicks off on Friday, January 17, with hours from 4 pm to 8 pm, and continues Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Scheduled highlights include a recruitment presentation at Kiva Auditorium at 5 pm on Friday, early VIP access beginning at 9 am on Saturday, and the Master Mentoring Panel at 11 am in Panel Room C on Sunday.

Tickets

Tickets are available for single-day or weekend entry. For Friday, tickets are available at $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. Saturday offers a full day of festivities with tickets priced at $40 in advance and $45 at the door. Sunday's events can be enjoyed with tickets at $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For the ultimate weekend experience, grab a Three-Day Pass for $65, available only during the pre-sale period until January 16. Children can join the fun too, with tickets for ages 9-13 priced at $5, while those eight and under get in free

The Albuquerque Convention Center, located in the heart of downtown Albuquerque, offers convenient access to dining and lodging options. Parking is available near the venue.

For those traveling from out of town, Albuquerque International Sunport is the nearest airport, just a 10-minute drive from the convention center. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions like Old Town Albuquerque and the Sandia Peak Tramway for a broader cultural experience.
