Lion Dance Performances by Queen City Lion Dance

Tet Festival (January 19, 2025)

The Vietnamese community of Charlotte holds its own Lunar New Year celebration. The annual Tết Festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm at Liberty Hall at Park Expo. Tickets are $15. Held by the Vietnamese Association of Charlotte, the celebration features lion dances, cultural performances, a raffle, a variety of vendors, and fun entertainment.

Lunar New Year at the Independence Regional Library (January 29, 2025)

The Independence Regional Library's Culture & Cuisine program gives teens a chance to explore different cultures through food. Each session focuses on a new country, region, or cultural celebration, with January highlighting Lunar New Year traditions.

Along with tasting foods, participants will experience other aspects of the culture, including drinks, music, history, and geography. It's a fun and interactive way to learn about diverse traditions, flavors, and customs. This program is open to teens ages 12-18 and will be led by library staff. No registration is required, but space is limited, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Chinese New Year at the New Asia Market

The New Asia Market on Potters Road in Stallings is another great spot to visit during the Chinese New Year in Charlotte. It typically features a traditional dragon dance, captivating performances, and an array of festive holiday foods to enjoy.
