Chinese New Year in Charlotte is a great occasion to visit local Asian restaurants for entertainment and food specials.

Asian Corner Mall

Every year, Asian Corner Mall hosts the Lion Dance, held by the Hung Gar Kung Fu Academy,, the only traditional kung fu school in Charlotte. The show is held at 11 am and includes several performances, showcasing different Asian cultures. The celebration is filled with joy and good wishes, which are supposed to bring prosperity and luck in the New Year.

Tet Festival

The Vietnamese community of Charlotte holds its own Lunar New Year celebration. The annual Tết Festival runs from 1 to 5 pm at The Oasis Shriners in Charlotte. Tickets are $5. Held by the Vietnamese Association of Charlotte, the celebration features lion dances, cultural performances, a raffle, a variety of vendors, and fun entertainment.

New Asia Market

Another destination worth visiting during Chinese New Year in Charlotte is the New Asia Market at Potters Road in Stallings. It hosts a traditional dragon dance, various performances, and of course, there will be plenty of holiday food to try.
