
Chinese New Year Featured in
Chinese New Year celebration is an old Toronto tradition. Major festivities take place in Chinatown organized by Hong Luck Kung Fu Club. The Lion Dance parade is usually the most popular and awaited event, which is followed by a street festival in the area of Spadina Ave and Dundas St West. The whole neighborhood turns red and gets filled with drum beats, fireworks and firecrackers bangs, as well as smoke.
Markham Civic Centre draws visitors with Lion Dance and martial arts performances, as well as traditional instrumental performances. First Markham Place mall features many indoors dance performances and cultural shows. Square One Mississauga features special New Year’s installation and art. Pacific Mall hosts a fair of handmade crafts and food pertaining to Chinese New Year celebrations.
