NXNE Festival 2023 in Toronto

One of the largest summer festivals in Toronto showcases emerging artists and major-label headliners

North by Northeast (NXNE) is summer music and arts festival that takes place every June in Toronto. This 10-day event combines big-name music stars and digital innovations, being a prime gathering spot for artists, industry professionals, and fans. The major highlight of NXNE Toronto is a three-day music festival at Yonge-Dundas Square. Besides, it also includes a comedy festival, a film festival, art exhibitions, video gaming events, and a digital interactive media forum.

The festival spreads to a variety of venues and places. NXNE Festival Village islocated at Yonge Street and features comedy, as well as meetings and panels, along with lots of art and great food. NXNE Game Land is held at the legendary Concert Hall at 888 Yonge Street. NXNE Club Land series features emerging musicians curated by K-OS, Jim Cuddy, Moe Berg.

NXNE started in 1995, inspired by Southwest festival in Texas. Interestingly, the SXSW organisation is a minority partner in NXNE. Over the years it expanded its attendance, venues, and activities. Every year it features about 1,000 music performers and attracts about 350,000 visitors. Past lineups included The Flaming Lips, Iggy and the Stooges, Billy Talent, Raekwon & Ghostface Killah, De La Soul, Bad Religion, Stars, The Pharcyde, The Raveonettes, GZA, Descendents, Chvrches and Azealia Banks, and many more.
