Since its inception in 2012, the festival has always invited the heavy-hitters and significant players of the EDM genre. Artists from the USA and from all over the world perform their chart-topping hits at the Sunset stage, entertaining the crowd of thousands. Previous lineups featured Blunts & Blondes, Illenium, Alesso, Dillon Francis, LSDREAM, Major Lazer, Marshmello, Zeds Dead, and many others.

The festival is going on a hiatus for its 2024 edition. Normally, the event is held at the end of May, during the Memorial Day Weekend, marking the beginning of the summer and its rave season.
Location
Throughout its entire ten-year run since 2012, Sunset Music Festival was held at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. However, organizers announced a relocation to a new venue for its next edition, noting that it will still be taking place in Florida.
