If you thought the Faroe Islands were never associated with wild parties, you're definitely missing out on the annual three-day G! Festival. This event takes over the village of Syðrugöta, with a population of just 400. The location transforms into a massive music festival, set right under the windows of local houses, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape.

In addition to advancing Faroese culture, the Festival promotes a sense of fellowship and community, which is the country's heritage. G! Festival is an unforgettable fusion of music, culture, and nature that’s well worth experiencing.

G! Festival Highlights

G! Festival is all about the music. Attendees can party to world-class performances while enjoying the breathtaking views of the Faroe Islands, complete with beachside hot tubs and a cool, laid-back atmosphere. The stages are traditionally set up on the beach and the football pitch, offering an unforgettable experience in Syðrugöta's natural amphitheater.

The previous festival editions hosted leading international artists and bands such as Afenginn, Baby in Vain, Darude, Mr. Flash, Kashmir, Glenn Kaiser Band, Ultra Mega Technobandið Stefan, Serena Maneesh, Jackman, Outlandish, Polka Björn & Kleine Heine, Valseværket, and many more.

In addition to international stars, the G! Festival also showcases the vibrant Faroese music scene. For example, the lineup has included The Absent Silver King, Deja Vu, Harmonikuvinir, Hilmar & Conny Kass, Niclas Heri & Shaky, and Tónabond yvir hav, giving visitors a chance to dive into the local music culture.

Tickets and Wristbands

In order to access the G! Festival, visitors need both wristbands and tickets. Wristbands are available at the Magn í Götudali in Göta and at the ticket booth by the festival entrance. Weekend tickets, one-day tickets, and campsite passes are available online and at the ticket booth. Kids ages 12 and under can attend for free.

How To Get To G! Festival

Guests can use festival buses, which regularly shuttle between the Camping Area in Norðagöta and the Festival Area in Syrðugöta. Wristbands for the entire weekend cost 150 kr, and one ride is 30 kr. Bus 400, running between Tórshavn and Klaksvik, also makes stops in Götugjógv, and a night bus is available for added convenience.

Camping

Camping options include the main campsite at Mortansbøður in Norðagöta, campervan spots, family camping areas, and even a boating area where visitors can sleep aboard their boats. To camp, you’ll need both a campsite wristband and a weekend or single-day festival wristband.
