The Taste of the Fat Bird Featured in
One of the seasonal tastes is the Fulmar bird, that is caught in a young age floating on the water after being too fat to fly. The process of catching it may be not the easiest one for the sensitive eyes, but for many Faroese, this is the bird to live on for several months. If you want to get the freshest taste you should try them in the late August, when the hunters are catching these little fatties. By that time, they acquire the weight that makes them not able to fly and keeps them floating around in order to lose some pounds.
