Splashy Fen, South Africa's longest-running annual music festival, takes place every March or April. This vibrant event celebrates life, art, music, community, love, laughter, fun, and joy, all set against the backdrop of a stunning world heritage site.

Music Lineup

Splashy Fen features six unique stages, each offering a distinct festival experience: the Main Stage, River Stage, Acoustic Stage, Treehouse Stage, Electric Boma Stage, and Fortress of Funk. The stage lineups for 2025 are still being finalized and will be released in full one month prior to the festival.

Location

In addition to offering quality music, Splashy Fen is renowned for its picturesque setting on a farm near the small town of Underberg in KwaZulu-Natal Province. Visitors can enjoy excellent camping facilities or choose from other accommodation options, including General Camping, River Campsites, Powered Campsites, the Harambee Glamping Village, Family Camping, Family Camping Powered Sites, and Glamping.

Tickets

Ticket pricing for Splashy Fen includes an Early Bird Festival Pass for adults at R1440.00 and the same rate for those under 18. Tickets for kids aged 4 to 12 are priced at R620.00, while children under four can attend for R20.00. The Splashy Balcony VIP Upgrade is available for R980.00.

History of Splashy Fen Festival

The festival started in 1990 after a night of red wine around a fire when Peter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens decided that the farm Splashy Fen was a perfect location for a music gathering. Expecting only a hundred or so fans, the inaugural festival attracted some 400 musicians and festival goers, and by 1995, had become the biggest music festival in the country.established in 1990. Since then, it has seen a large number of famous artists. These include Syd Kitchen, Steve Newman, Tony Cox, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Koos Kombuis, Vusi Mahlasela, Shawn Phillips, Madala Kunene, Hinds Brothers, Neill Solomon, Tananas, Landscape Prayers, Just Jinjer, Tree63, Hothouse Flowers, Dan Patlansky, Springbok Nude Girls, Watershed, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Chris Chameleon, and many others.
