Splashy Fen is the longest-running annual music festival in South Africa established in 1990. Since then, it has seen a large number of famous artists. These include Syd Kitchen, Steve Newman, Tony Cox, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Koos Kombuis, Vusi Mahlasela, Shawn Phillips, Madala Kunene, Hinds Brothers, Neill Solomon, Tananas, Landscape Prayers, Just Jinjer, Tree63, Hothouse Flowers, Dan Patlansky, Springbok Nude Girls, Watershed, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Chris Chameleon, and many others.
Besides quality music, the event is celebrated for its scenic location which is in a farm near the small town of Underberg, KwaZulu-Natal Province. Visitors may benefit from great camping grounds or opt for other accommodation options.
