Awakenings is a Dutch techno festival with live and Dj acts, usually organized as a one-day event in Spaarnwoude and is considered to be one of the best festivals in Europe. The foundation of the Awakenings was laid in 1997 and since then it takes place several times a year, featuring lineups both of rising stars and the biggest names of the scene. Over 100 acts on more than eight stages spread throughout the Velsen Valley, so-called Netherland's techno mecca. Moreover, Awakenings festival holds amazing shows and displays in the course of the year.

All-star lineups of the festival in the past years included Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz, Job Jobse, Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Sven Väth, Dax J, Marcel Dettmann, Joseph Capriati, Kölsch, Maceo Plex, Ben Klock, Jamie Jones, Ricardo Villalobos, Rodhad, Seth Troxler, and Dixon. With almost ten different stages, your only problem will be to choose where to go. The festival attracts about 80,000 visitors every year. Spaarnwoude, located between Haarlem and Amsterdam, becomes a European techno capital during one weekend in June. There is no camping at the festival grounds, but organizers offer many housing options in nearby hostels and hotels.
