Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Eminem— Austin City Limits Music Festival annually features over 130 bands, performing on eight stages for two weekends. The diversity of music styles includes everything from jazz and folk to alternative rock, pop, western swing, Texas blues, rock ‘n roll, indie, and hip-hop. Here you can also find lots of vendors with famous delicious food like tacos, brews, Texas turkey legs, and hot and crunchy mighty cones.
About 450,000 visitors attend the festival each year. ACL Music Festival is organized by the Austin-based company C3 Presents, who also produces Lollapalooza. It was founded in 2002 as a one-weekend event and remained like that until 2012 when Austin City Council members voted unanimously to allow the ACL Music Festival to expand to two weekends. Currently, the festival has eight stages where groups perform divided by genres.
Austin City Limits Music Festival has a strong emphasis on charity. ACL Cares supports good causes and encourages thousands of attendees to donate to the community and organizations like KLRU and The Nature Conservancy, HeadCount, United Way for Greater Austin, Austin Music Foundation, Keep Austin Beautiful, and more. Austin artists also have an opportunity to showcase their works at the ACL Art Market. The art market is located in the centre of Zilker Park with many booths and vendors open throughout the festival.
