Every summer, dozens of hot air balloons fill the skies over Steuben County in Indiana. The main highlight of the annual Angola Balloons Aloft is a massive balloon launch from the lawn near Angola High School. The festival usually features kids' activities, educational displays, food vendors, and helicopter rides. However, in 2020 all those activities were canceled because of COVID 19 pandemic.
The schedule of the Angola Balloons Aloft starts with the weekend competition on Friday evening, with about 20 balloons participating. The lift-off usually takes place on Saturday morning and evening and Sunday morning. The famous Balloon Glow takes place near the high school on Friday night at about 9:15 pm. Admission to the festival is free.
