Ballonfestival Hardenberg is an annual ballooning festival, usually taking place in the city of Hardenberg in East Netherlands during the last weekend of June. The festival features about 35 colorful balloons, including special shapes like the Flying Dutchman, Barneveldse Kuiken, Calimero, Vincent van Gogh, and De Max Bear & Babette. In addition to balloon rides, the festival offers dragon boat races, live music, and entertainment in a large party tent.

When the Ballons Will Take Off

The three-day event features a mass ascent of hot air balloons during three evenings in a row at about 7:30 pm. Over 45 teams participate in exciting dragon boat races on the Vecht River, starting at 9 am.

The Ter Steege Balloon Festival Hardenberg offers to enjoy balloon flights over the festival grounds. The boarding pass for 1 person costs € 185.

Admission and Location

Ballonfestival Hardenberg is free for the public to attend. Even those who don't plan to fly will enjoy the summer outdoor weekend. Taking place on the picturesque floodplains of the Vecht River in Hardenberg, the festival is held in a truly beautiful setting. Balloon rides will be available only if weather conditions are suitable for flying.
