Valkenburg Christmas markets (November 15, 2024–January 5, 2025)

Valkenburg is the #1 Christmas city in the Netherlands. There, the holiday markets are also widely known as ones of the best Christmas markets in the Netherlands. The whole city turns into a magical wonderland for 58 days from mid-November to early January. The Municipal Cave in Valkenburg is transformed into Europe’s largest underground Christmas market (Kerstmarkt Gemeentegrot) during the holiday season. Its festively decorated corridors feature hundreds of small lights and stalls with Christmas gifts for your loved ones. The Velvet Cave Christmas market (Kerstmarkt Fluweelengrot) is located underneath the ruined castle of Valkenburg and features over 50 amazingly decorated stalls along with historical charcoal drawings on the walls. You can treat yourself to different Christmas snacks and drinks to fully taste the Christmas spirit. Markets operate from 11 am to 7 pm. Admission is €9.

Christmas market in Deventer (December 14–15, 2024)

Featuring over 950 characters from Charles Dickens’ books, the Dickens Festival in Deventer (Dickens Festijn Deventer) helps you plunge into the atmosphere of the 19th-century world. The festival is full of entertainment and includes the Netherlands Christmas market in and around the Grote Kerk, officially St Lebuinus Church. There, you can stroll along 75 different stalls that sell joyful Christmas toys, decorations, garments, and handiworks. On the indoor terrace, you can taste delicious snacks and drinks. The festival is open from 11 am to 5 pm daily.

Christmas market in Haarlem (December 13–15, 2024)

Another festive Christmas market in Holland takes place in Grote Markt in Haarlem (Kerstmarkt Haarlem), and it has a chance to become one of your ​​most-liked Christmas markets in Europe. The center of Haarlem transforms into a winter wonderland full of Christmas delicacies, holiday sounds, and magical twinkling lights. A dozen of locations span 350 market stalls. Schagchelstraat becomes 19th-century-themed Emma's Street while the Kleine Houtstraat becomes a Medieval market. Get a fresh Dutch pea soup and let yourself immerse in this warm atmosphere!

Country & Christmas Fair in Haarzuilens (November 19–24, 2024)

Country & Christmas Fair in Haarzuilens is one more Christmas market full of excellent Christmas entertainment, such as a water show, Santa’s house, different workshops, acapella choirs, live music, street theatre, and a lot of delicious food. Taking place at Castle De Haar, it's open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Grab a cup of warm cacao with a big apple flap and let yourself immerse into this multi-colored extravaganza!

Christmas markets in Amsterdam (December 12-26, 2024)

If you're in the dark about what to visit in Amsterdam, the well-known Sunday Market invites everyone to enjoy the Funky Xmas Market at Frankendael Park. During the whole day on December 15th, you could wade through the stalls full of homemade sweets, original gifts, festive interior accessories, and savory food. This amazing Christmas market is open from 11 am to 5 pm. More Christmas atmosphere awaits at Museumplein Ice Village. A large Christmas tree, festive foods, and plenty of entertainment complement excellent Christmas gift shopping. Ice Village is open from noon to 9 pm from December 12th to 26th, 2024.

Royal Christmas Fair in The Hague (December 5–23, 2024)

The Royal Christmas Fair is on the list of the best Christmas markets in the Netherlands. The historic center of The Hague (Den Haag) turns into a wonderland with 110 Christmas houses, thousands of dazzling LED lights, ambient fires, Christmas songs, and numerous cups of mulled wine. The Lange Voorhout is filled with various market stalls that offer mouth-watering snacks and drinks. There are three entrances to this 14-day market: the Kloosterkerk, the American embassy, and the hotel Des Indes. You can get there from 12 pm to 9 pm daily. Admission is free.

Maastricht Christmas Market (November 28–December 30, 2024)

Around Christmas, Maastricht turns into a winter fairytale, featuring a warm atmosphere and thousands of twinkling lights all over the streets. The Maastricht Christmas Market is a market every Christmas lover needs to visit at least once in their life. Numerous stalls with bratwurst and Glühwein, an outdoor ice rink, a cup of coffee with Schrobbelèr liqueur, the illuminated Ferris wheel with a breathtaking view of the market, many decorated alleys, an old-fashioned carousel — all these things make Maastricht Christmas Market at Vrijthof square one of the best-loved Christmas markets in the Netherlands.
