Halifax Jazz Festival is the biggest and oldest summer music festival in the Atlantic part of Canada. Held annually since 1987, it was also known as the Atlantic Jazz Festival. Halifax Jazz Festival takes place at the picturesque Halifax waterfront for 8 days and 9 nights. A diverse and impressive lineup spans different genres, such as jazz, roots, blues, Latin, R&B, and world music. Every edition of the festival attracts about 55, 0000 attendees.
Halifax Jazz Festival features a diverse range of musical and educational activities. In addition to soft-seat concerts and club shows, the festival holds educational workshops, in particular, the popular Creative Music Workshop. Halifax Jazz Festival hosts well-known performers from various countries as well as amateur musicians and employs over 350 local artists.
Previous lineups included performers like Feist, Fleet Foxes, Sudan Archives, Digable Planets, Shaggy, BadBadNotGood, Jenn Grant, First Aid Kit, Mdou Moctar, Heather Bambrick, Sheila E., Tim Baker, The Barr Brothers, Chaka Khan, The War on Drugs, Daniel Caesar, Matt Anderson & The Mellotones, Alvvays, Whitehorse, Charlotte Day Wilson, Nicholas Payton & Afro-Caribbean Mixtape, Laila Biala, Land of Talk, and Jerry Granelli Dance Hall. The Main Stage gates open at 7:30 pm, while the show starts at about 8:15 pm.
