Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2025
Star-studded lineup and high attendance make it number one music event in sub-Saharan Africa

Each spring the city of Cape Town hosts the festival labelled "Africa’s Grandest Gathering." Nearly 35,000 music lovers head to the capital for the two-night celebration of world's best jazz, funk, Afro-pop, soul, fusion, R&B, and more. The festival boasts four stages and and a diverse lineup of more than 40 local and international artists.
Music Lineup
During its previous editions, CTIJF was honored by such famous artists as Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Spyro Gyra, Eumir Deodato, Stanley Clarke, Miriam Makeba, Ananda Project, Mos Def, Al Di Meola, Ringo Madlingozi, Gretchen Parlato, and many other celebrities. The long-awaited 2024 edition featured an impressive selection of musicians, including Matt Bianco, Benjamin Jephta, Billy Monama, and Kokoroko. Annual star-studded lineups guarantee an excellent musical weekend.
Free Concert
One day before the festival, organizers also host a free outdoor concert at Greenmarket Square, which features some of the great up-and-coming artists of this generation. The event usually spans from 4 pm until 10 pm and is one of the most memorable experiences of the entire program.
Location
Since 2004, the jazz festival has been hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The venue is situated in the heart of Cape Town, making it easily accessible to the city's attractions like the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Besides the amazing jazz festival, Cape Town has numerous places to explore, from Lion's Head and Cape Point Nature Reserve to its authentic restaurant scene.
