No Jazz lover should miss Connecticut's Litchfield Jazz Festival, a remarkable occasion, annually gathering thousands of visitors from all walks of life. This event draws top-notch performers and provides a variety of activities, from exhilarating concerts to instructive lectures. The concerts will feature many talented jazz musicians. The festival's dedication to protecting the genre and its fascinating history is clear and promises a spectacular and engaging experience!

Festival Events

The Litchfield Jazz Festival consists of three-day festivities and performances, all with its own star lineup. With almost a three-decade history, the event is sure to leave you in awe with some incredible performances you've never experienced before.

Opening Gala (July 26, 2024 )

To start off the festivities on the right foot, the opening night will be headlined by Alexa Tarantino, a well-known saxophonist, and her instrument quartet. All of the ensemble members are former alumni of the Litchfield Jazz Camp. The concert begins at 7:45 pm at the Thomas Perakos Performing Arts Center. Before that, you'll have a chance to donate to Litchfield Jazz Camp scholarships at 5:45 pm.

Second Day of the Festival (July 27, 2024)

On July 27th, prepare to be swept away by a whirlwind of sensual jazz music. The concert begins at 3 pm with Amina Figarova Sextet and the Matsiko Orphan Choir performance, demonstrating impressive harmonies and liaison of their voices. Ben Allison, Steve Cardenas, and Ted Nash collaborate during a jazz tribute concert at 4:45. The cheery on top of this talented selection of artists is the Bill Charlap Trio at 6:30 pm.

Sunday Jazz Brunch (July 28, 2024)

To finish your weekend on a high note, stop by the Bourne Courtyard to enjoy outdoor brunch and music from Grammy nominees, Dan Pugach and Nicole Zuraitis. Other performers include Matt Dwonszyk, Albert Rivera, and Paul Bollenback. The brunch begins at noon and is, of course, accompanied by delectable delights from Litchfield's eateries.

Tickets

All the events require tickets for admission. The price starts at $53 for Friday general admission and $81 for Saturday admission and goes up to $162 for a reserved seat at a Friday concert. For those who want an exclusive experience, the festival offers a $422 pass to the Opening Gala and Sunday Jazz Brunch. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sale goes to support the Litchfield Jazz Camp scholarships.

Location

The concerts take place at the Thomas Perakos Performing Arts Center and at the Bourne Courtyard. Both of these locations are situated on the campus of the Frederick Gunn School in Washington, Connecticut. You can easily travel to the town itself from New York, located 90 miles (149 km) southwest of Washington.
