Every year, balloon enthusiasts and families from all over the state go to Marysville, Ohio, for the engaging and thrilling All Ohio Balloon Fest. This festival, which takes place against the picturesque background of the Union County Fairgrounds, has grown to be a highlight of Ohio's events calendar. The festival's appeal is found in its varied range of entertainment options and activities, which appeal to visitors of all ages.

Activities and Attractions

The All Ohio Balloon Fest spans three days and features 20 colorful hot air balloons, including unique shapes like Peg Leg Pete and Yoda from Star Wars. The daily balloon launch at 6 pm is a must-see event, and the night-time balloon glow after dusk adds a magical touch to the evenings. In addition to the balloons, attendees can enjoy rides on a vintage B-25 plane, helicopters, and even skydiving, offering breathtaking views of the festival grounds.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Hot air balloon rides are a highlight, priced at $400 per person or $800 for a tandem ride. These rides occur during the balloon launch, and participants must be at least 48 inches tall and comfortable around flames. Tethered balloon rides are also available on-site for $25 per person.

Music

Live music is a significant component of the festival, with performances scheduled throughout the event. This year, Paulina Jane and Shane Stephens Band will perform on Thursday, culminating with a concert by Aaron Lewis at 8 pm. Friday features performances by Ken Chaffin at 5:30 pm and Jefferson Starship at 8 pm. Saturday includes a Best of Fleetwood Mac tribute from 5-7 pm and a performance by Karen Waldrup.

Kids Fun Area and Food Vendors

The All Ohio Balloon Fest offers a fun area for children with an obstacle course, bounce houses, a giant slide, and face painting open on Friday and Saturday from 2-8 pm.

Festival vendors provide a variety of food options, including favorites from Freyhofs Funnel Cakes and Big Mealz on Wheels or unique snacks at the Fun Flavor Zone. Chick-Fil-A and The Hangry Chicken provide delicious chicken dishes, while Maggie's Lemonade and Nate's Hotdogs offer refreshing drinks and classic hot dogs. For steak and burgers, visit The Butcher Block, and quench your thirst with sweet tea from Shannon's Sweet Tea or drinks from EFILLS and GREFILLS. Please note that outside food is not allowed, so support the local vendors and enjoy the culinary variety at the festival.

Tickets

General admission tickets for the All Ohio Balloon Fest vary by day. Thursday's general admission is $46.99 for the first 500 purchasers, Friday's is $21.99 and serves as a weekend pass for both Friday and Saturday, while Saturday's general admission is $19.99 for the first 500 buyers. Admission for kids ten and under is free on Friday and Saturday. Ticket sales at the gate are cash only, though an ATM is available on-site. All general admission tickets include access to balloons and music, weather permitting.

There are various perks available with different ticket types. The Aaron Lewis Preferred Admission offers reserved seating in rows 5-20 and will-call tent access. The VIP Admission includes front-row seating, a festival t-shirt, VIP tent access, and a dedicated restroom.

Parking

General parking is $15, with exact change appreciated. VIP parking requires a separate gate admission pass, and the private parking address is printed on the ticket. Thursday VIP Parking costs $30.99, Friday VIP Parking is $25.99, and Saturday VIP Parking is $20.99.
