The city of San Jose gets very peculiar with its Independence Day celebrations. Rose, White & Blue Parade (July 4, 2024)
An important part of the Independence Day celebration in San Jose is the annual Rose, White & Blue parade. The event takes place along Shasta Ave, between Sequoia Ave and Alameda. The parade kicks off at 10 am and is usually expected to last at least until 12 pm.
You'll be able to witness amazing stuff, including a fantastic car show, a live music concert, a bunch of shops with themed souvenirs, and many food trucks to calm your hunger. Everyone will be dressed in patriotic Independence Day costumes, so don’t forget yours if you want to fit in. Also, if you’re visiting San Jose for a short period, be sure to book your accommodation beforehand as the city is really busy this time of the year.
Founded in 1896, the Rose Carnival was transformed into Fiesta de Las Rosas in 1926. Throughout the Fiesta de Las Rosas era, roses, flags, and banners adorned schoolyards and street corners alike. A dedicated committee planted numerous rose bushes, embodying the parade's theme, "Santa Clara Valley, the Rose Garden of the World." At its zenith, the parade featured 87 floats, 10 bands, 200 mounted riders, and a multitude of decorated vehicles.

The Almaden July 4th Fireworks returned in 2023 after locals petitioned the authorities. They were created after the Santa Clara Valley Water District planned an Almaden Lake Improvement Project in 2022, which prohibited fireworks. Visitors can enjoy the Flag Ceremony and National Anthem, face painting, a food court, an entertainment lineup, and much more. The fireworks display starts at approximately 9:15 pm. This is a great option if you want to enjoy a spectacular fireworks display in the San Francisco Bay Area that has attracted over 25,000 spectators.
