East Kirkby Airshow is an annual event held at The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in early August. The proceeds from the one-day air show support the restoration of Avro Lancaster (NX611) "Just Jane." In addition to aerostatic displays, the public can enjoy ground displays, vintage and military vehicles, re-enactments, vendors, and much more. Visitors can see twelve World War II RAF ground vehicles and a concrete-filled practice Upkeep bomb.
East Kirkby Airshow Highlights
East Kirkby Airshow gathers about 5,000 attendees. Aviation enthusiasts know the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby thanks to its main highlight, Avro Lancaster, a British Second World War heavy bomber, which is making taxi runs at the show. Another highlight is Havilland Mosquito NF.11 (HJ711), a British World War II British combat aircraft. Since its frame was constructed mostly of wood, it was called the "Wooden Wonder." The aircraft performs regular taxi runs at East Kirkby Airfield from May to November.
The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is also home to an English Electric Canberra WH957, the wreckage of Supermarine Spitfire Vb BL655, a Percival Proctor, a Handley Page Hampden, and a Douglas DC3 Dakota.
Airshow Schedule
The one-day East Kirkby Air Show runs from 10 am to 5: 30 pm. After the gates open, the public can visit Lancaster cockpit and take pictures untill noon. The 1940s Dance Performance at Hangar is scheduled at 10:20, followed by Lincoln Vocal Academy Choir at 11:20. Flying displays start at 12:30. Lancaster taxy run and Mosquito taxy run are available in the afternoon.
Tickets
General admission to the airshow is £25. Children (6-15) pay £6.5. Young children under 5 can get in for free. Make sure to get your reservation in advance because admission to the festival is limited to 5,000 people, and tickets sell out pretty quickly. The airshow boasts some of the best displays in England, so the public should not be disappointed!
