The history-rich Galveston Island offers you a chance of a lifetime to celebrate the 4th of July on a large scale. Its marvelous festivities feature live music, outdoor activities for the whole family, and, of course, The Galveston Annual Independence Day Parade and Fireworks.
Galveston 4th of July Parade (July 4, 2020; 10 am)
If you happen to visit Galveston for the 4th of July, set off straight for Seawall Boulevard to breathe in the incredible atmosphere of this unique event in league with locals and visitors. Here you can witness the cherry on top of all 4th of July celebrations in Galveston Island: an unbelievable free evening parade. The event starts at 59th Street and finishes at 25th Street and features a procession of performers, floats, decorated military vehicles, and much more. The 2020 route will run from 25th Street and Santa Fe Place, turning south on 25th and east on Postoffice, then on 21st Street and west on The Strand to 25th Street.
Galveston Fourth of July fireworks (canceled in 2020)
The parade is usually followed by a 20-minute flashing fireworks display lighting up the sky over the Gulf of Mexico. The show is sponsored by the Galveston Park Board of Trustees. It takes place near Seawall Boulevard and 37th Street and is accompanied by a live concert. If you have an idea to tip back a cocktail while observing the spectacle, there are several bars around the boulevard for you.
