Balloons Over Vermilion 2024

A popular ballooning gathering in Illinois

Dates: early June, 2024 (unconfirmed)

Balloons Over Vermilion is an annual festival that takes place every summer at Vermilion Regional Airport, Danville, Illinois. Get ready to see over 30 beautiful hot air balloons dotting the sky over the Vermilion County. The schedule of the festival includes tethered rides, nightly fly-outs, and Balloon Glows. Tethered rides take place between 7 and 10:30 pm, costing $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Around the same time, you also have an opportunity to go on a biplane tour for $85 per person (but keep in mind it's for at least two people). On Friday and Saturday night after the balloon glow, there will also be a laser light show.

Balloons Over Vermilion also features live music, balloon school, food vendors, and a kids' zone with inflatables, joyful bubbles, face painting, lawn games, and touch a truck. Entertainment includes a classic car show, volleyball tournament, and the Vermilion County Museum Retro Photo Booth.

Festival gates open at 3 pm on the first day and at 1 pm on the second. Admission isn't expensive-only $5 per person, and children aged 10 and under can enter for free. The same price goes for parking. However, if you want to arrive in an RV, get ready to pay $25. Tickets can be bought at the gate, cash only.
