Christmas is a special occasion in Illinois. The state’s residents prepare for the holiday very early, arranging various events and ceremonies. In Wheaton, people get together for a spectacular Christmas parade, which begins on the intersection of Wheaton Ave & Wesley Str. and heads east towards Front Str., wrapping up on Cross Str. The parade features numerous Christmas-decorated trucks, Santa-dressed people, and lots of tasty treats.
The parade then moves to Adams Park, where Wheaton’s Mayor and City Council begin the lighting ceremony. This event is a big deal to the city residents as it officially marks the beginning of the holiday season. And the best part: it's free of charge. All you have to do is come to the place at a stated time–7 pm–and enjoy yourself. But keep in mind that Wheaton is very busy this time of year, so you may want to book your accommodation beforehand.
