The Clayshire Medieval Faire is an annual Renaissance event held on the grounds of Clayshire Castle in Bowling Green, Indiana. A popular bed and breakfast, Clayshire Castle hosts a weekend full of fun for the whole family every September. Visitors can travel back in time to England in the late 1400s, during the Wars of the Roses. The faire features jousting, full-armored combat, live music, falconry, puppetry, and delicious foods. Besides, there're fairy glade activities for kids of all ages and plenty of shopping.

Entertainment and Activities

Last year's vibrant artisan marketplace featured an array of handmade crafts with artisans like All The Magic, Big Bob's Little Knife Shop, Gothic Edge, Dark Woods Apothecary, The Ginger Pin: Lilla Rose Haircessories, Elaine's Arcane Tarot Readings, The Midnight Woodworker, Candles by Jenni, Haire's Magical Wears, Fairy Hair, Hunted Crafts, and others. Food vendors offer savory and sweet treats, local wine, and craft beer. Faire visitors can discover a treasure trove of handmade crafts and indulge taste buds with a delectable array of savory specialties, sweet treats, local craft beer, and fine Indiana wine.

Tickets

Admission to the Faire is $15 at the gate for adults and $10 for children (ages 2-12). Clayshire Castle Medieval Faire runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Free parking is available on-site. The Faire doesn't permit pets, smoking, or vaping.

Location Attractions

In addition to Clayshire Castle Medieval Faire, visitors can enjoy a hike at McCormick's Creek State Park, the oldest in the state. Another hiking destination, Lieber State Recreation Area, is home to Cagles Mill Lake and Cataract Falls., with plenty of water sports and other outdoor activities.

There is a diverse selection of fast food joints, family-friendly eateries, and even a Thai restaurant within a convenient 20-minute drive in Spencer, Indiana. Attendees can also visit a rescue facility located just a few miles from the castle and see lions, tigers, and other large exotic cats up close.
