The Bay Area Renaissance Festival is a yearly celebration of everything medieval, which takes place in Dade City, Florida. The festival is held every year from February to April, offering a variety of events to enjoy, like live music, comedy performances, jousting competitions, and street acts.
Travel back in time and find yourself in the magical 16th-century European village of Folkstone, with 15 stages of action-packed entertainment! Wonder among ministrels, magicians, jugglers and knights. Shop at the bustling marketplace, hosting 100 artisans with handcrafted goods and crafts. Festival highlights include a full-contact live armored jousting, a Mermaid Cove, and great food fit for royalty.
Themed weekends
Themed weekends include Highland Fling, when guests can try their skill at the Keg Toss or participate in the Kilt Competition! BARKbarian Brew Fest is a perfect occasion for dog owners to spend the day with their canine companions.
Once Upon a Time weekend on March 9-10 is dedicated to all things magical: fairies, princesses, wizards and other fantastical creatures. Guests can participate in the costume contest or simply enjoy their time in the village. Shamrocks & Shenanigans on March 16-17 celebrates all things Irish: jigs, Irish Dance Competitions, Irish fare, and Tug-of-War. Guests can partake in the Beard Competition or the Kilt and Leprechaun Costume Contests.
On March 23-24, the village gets invaded by ruthless Vikings. And finally, the last weekend of the festival, on March 30-31, is dedicated to Easter. Expect to see Egg hunts, bonnet parades, and fun activities for the family. Beutiful decorations, spring vibes and Renaissance music create a truly magical atmosphere at the festival.
Hours and tickets
The Bay Area Renaissance Festival runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $20.95 for adults over 13, $13.95 for children (5-12), $16.95 for seniors (over 65).
The festival encourages attendees to participate in the fun by dressing in medieval clothing. Also, there are numerous food and beverage booths at the festival, selling everything from turkey legs to mead.
