San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival is held annually at the picturesque Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, at 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego. The three-day San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival gathers music lovers from around the world. The event features performances by celebrated artists in a variety of genres, such as smooth, fusion, and blues. The festival offers the best music for hot summer nights by the waterfront. Past lineups included such performers as Karen Briggs, Gerald Veasley, Rob Zinn, Willie Bradley, Eric Marienthal, Lao Tizer, and more. The festival combines soothing, smooth jazz from nationally acclaimed artists, delicious cuisine, and a great atmosphere. Best eateries from San Diego bring food and drink, including beer and wine.
2024 Lineup
The festival is hosted by Eric Darius, saxophonist, vocalist, songwriter, producer, and educator who plays contemporary jazz, smooth jazz, R&B, and pop. Other artists in the 2024 edition include saxophonist and four-time Grammy Award nominee Boney James, singer and two-time Grammy Award winner for Best Jazz Vocal Gregory Porter, R&B singer Kenny Lattimore, a jazz fusion band Spyro Gyra, R&B and jazz fusion band Pieces of a Dream, jazz pianist Alex Bugnon, alto saxophonist and composer Will Donato, guitar player Blake Aaron, saxophonist Jeff Ryan, pianist Greg Manning and more.
Tickets
Tickets for the San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival range from $70 to $260, depending on the seating. Gates of the festival open at 2:45 pm, with concerts starting at 3:30 pm. Guests can also take advantage of the Rady Shell culinary program, offering San Diego specialties from some of the finest restaurants, both casual and upscale. Partners include Chef Richard Blais, Urban Kitchen, Biga, Lola 55, Kitchens for Good, Wicked Popcorn, and Cali-Cream. Attendees have to preorder blais dinners or boxes by 4 pm on the day before the concert.
Parking and More
Prepaid parking is available at the Rady Shell. Drive-up parking may or may not be available on the day of the concert and may be significantly more expensive than the prepaid option. Chairs will be provided for all ticket holders so attendees don't have to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Mind that dogs and other pets are not allowed on the artificial turf areas within the site. Outside food and drinks are also not permitted at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park.
