The Corn Palace Festival is an annual celebration and redecoration of the unique Corn Palace located at 604 North Main Street in Mitchell, South Dakota. Thousands of people also gather in the palace to see big-name entertainers that headline the festival, try the fantastic carnival rides, delicious food and shop for souvenirs, arts and crafts. In the past years, Johnny Cash, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Billy Currington and Jake Owen performed at the Palace.

Corn Palace is a fantastic structure decorated with thousands of bushels of corn and other grains and plants. Don't miss the beautiful corn murals and pay attention to the domes that look particularly impressive with special lighting. Many cities of the American Great Plains region used to have crop or grain palaces in the 19th century to showcase its agriculture industry. Corn Palace in Mitchell was first built in 1892 to motivate people to settle down in the area boasting excellent soils. The Corn Palace was rebuilt in 1921 and had undergone significant reconstruction in 2015.

In the summer, Corn Palace serves as a concert, sports events, exhibits and shows venue. It also offers free guided tours about the Corn Palace Story. It is visited by up to 500,000 tourists every year. The Corn Palace Festival takes place during the annual corn harvest that gives visitors a chance to participate in construction. Also, the palace attracts large crowds during the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo every July and the Corn Palace Polka Festival every September.
