KVMR Celtic Festival & Marketplace is an annual community event held at Nevada County Fairgrounds in late September. Held since 1996, the festival spans eleven performance areas with five musical and six demonstration stages. In addition, the festival features workshops and sessions for the Youth Arts Program, providing aspiring musicians an opportunity to perform in front of a large audience and get instruction about music, dance, and songwriting. The Session Stage of the festival attracts musicians of all skill levels, which are interested in playing.
Fun activities at KVMR Celtic Festival include Raptor Demonstrations, The Bird Of Prey, Merloch Silvermaine the Magician, Highland Games, Sessions, Guilds, Friday Night Ceilidh Dance, and Kids Area fun.
The world-class lineup of Celtic music includes bands like The Elders, The Jeremiahs, Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, On The Lash, Eamonn Flynn & Dublinesque, Galen Fraser & San Miguel Fraser, Summer McCall, Talisk, and others. The Marketplace hosts a large variety of vendors, specializing in jewelry, pottery, genealogy, musical instruments, and various unique arts and crafts. KVMR Celtic Festival & Marketplace attracts over 7,000 attendees every year.
