Charleston Carifest 2024
Soak up Caribbean vibes during the summer carnival festivities
Dates: June 13-16, 2024
Charleston Carifest is celebrated in Charleston, SC, during four splendid days in June, which is known as the Caribbean-American heritage month. The carnival has been organized by Lorna Shelton-Beck yearly since 2006. The festivities are all about the vibrant Caribbean culture. The folks have fun dressing up in feathers, dancing to salsa, reggae, and soca, and feasting on traditional cuisines of Cuba, Jamaica, and Barbados.
The fun-packed program features parties for all to enjoy. Yet, the main event is a big carnival street parade, which takes place on Saturday. Mas Bands step off from the Charleston Museum on John's Street at 4 pm and proceed across the city to Brittlebank Park, where merriments are aplenty. In the park, the crowds enjoy live entertainment, sample some Caribbean goodies, and explore arts and crafts.
