Liverpool Carnival 2024
Come to celebrate samba and all things Brazil at Liverpool's Brazilica Festival
Dates: July 2024 (unconfirmed)
Each summer, namely in July, the city of Liverpool throws a vibrant Brazilica Festival. It's known as Liverpool's international and the UK's only samba carnival. The events within the Liverpool carnival take place across a number of indoor and outdoor venues, with the central gathering point at Williamson Square.
During the main carnival day, which falls on Saturday, the streets of the city are filled with lively festivities, featuring superb live performances, kaleidoscopic costumes, traditional Brazilian cuisine, the carnival queen and king competitions, and themed exhibitions. But the primary highlight is the night samba parade, which showcases glittering floats and amazing samba bands from all over the world and gathers about 80,000 spectators. Liverpool carnival dates back to July of 2008. Then, the city was named the European Capital of Culture and held a Rio-style carnival parade to honor the title. The street bash became a great success and turned into one of Liverpool's favorite annual celebrations.
