New Year's Eve & New Year's Day 2023-2024

Celebrating in the Holy City is a party like no other

New Year's Eve & New Year's Day

Whether you are looking for a family getaway, an elegant dinner, a crazy bash, or a black-tie party, Charleston has a handful of options to cover all types of New Year's Eve.

NYE at Marion Square

For families with children, there's no better place for NYE than Marion Square. The annual alcohol-free party takes place in the city's very heart and features street performances, dancing, and kid-friendly activities, running through 10:30 pm.

Charleston Wonderland

Party-goers have several stylish options to close out the year with a bang. Loosen up at Charleston Wonderland, rocking the Memminger Auditorium from 8:30 pm through 1:30 am. This top-level bash features renowned live DJs, cirque performances, a fire and ice show, and the city's largest balloon drop.

Yorktown Countdown

If you want to welcome the New Year overlooking the scenic nightscapes of Charleston Harbor, head to Patriot's Point, which is a few minutes away from downtown. Yorktown Countdown takes place aboard the USS Yorktown, a huge retired war vessel. The unique NYE experience features three stages, live music, a full-service bar, and other entertainment from 9 pm to 1 am.

More parties

Charleston offers dozens of other places to dance the night away. Check out such hot places as DECO Charleston nightclub or Snyder Grand Ball at South Carolina Aquarium Dance, open all night long. For a more casual rooftop party, climb Revelry Brewing Co.

Dining on NYE

An intimate dining experience is another ideal way to celebrate. Reserve a table at the elegant restaurant Circa 1886, but note that it books up fast. Husk Restaurant, The Darling Oyster Bar, and Oak Steakhouse also offer select NYE options.

New Year’s Day on Kiawah Island

And don't hasten to drive home. Consider staying over, as the city has something special for New Year's Day as well. How about starting the year with a jolt of energy on Kiawah Island? Complement your New Year's resolutions with a 5K Run or Polar Bear Plunge. You'll be proud of yourself for beginning the new year in such a cool way!
