Japan's apple imports are extremely low due to the existence of Japan's own great variety - the Fuji apple. These large crispy and sweet fruits are adored by Japanese people. It's actually a hybrid between two American varieties created in the 1930s. Now it's gaining popularity not only in Japan, but in the USA and around the world as well.
