In strawberry season which falls on late June, Norwegians stand in lines to purchase enough berries to eat as well as preserve some for winter and for Christmas desserts. Though Norwegian strawberries are not as perfect from the outside as the strawberries farmed in Holland, the taste is truly incomparable. In addition to home-grown fruit, wild strawberries may be found growing in secluded areas in the countryside. Small but more aromatic than usual berries, wild strawberries are extremely rare and unfortunately their numbers are slowly diminishing.
