Morello Cherries or moreller is a tart variety of cherries distinguished also by dark skin and flesh. The cultivar originates from China, yet in Norway morello cherries are abundant during mid-August. Moreller season always brings tangy cherry pies, other pastries, sour compotes, and flavory toppings for poultry and desserts.
