Celebrate Saint Louis, previously known as Fair St. Louis, is the most impressive 4th of July celebration in the Midwest, often called America's biggest birthday party. Framed by the famous Gateway Arch, the festival features plenty of music and entertainment. The program includes an airshow, the historic America’s Birthday Parade, sports tournaments, and the spectacular July 4th fireworks display over the Mississippi River. Celebrate Saint Louis is a delightful summer experience with lots of things to try and see.
America's Birthday Parade
America's Birthday Parade in Downtown St. Louis has been a beloved local tradition since 1878. The colorful annual spectacle features vibrant floats, skydivers, marching bands, choreographed dances, and other performances. The parade starts at 10 am at the corner of 4th and Market with the iconic Gateway Arch in the background. The procession moves west on Market Street through downtown St. Louis, ending near 20th Street. The Market Street is usually lined with cheering crowds of spectators dressed in patriotic attire.
Concert
The 4th of July Concert tradition was established in St. Louis in 1981. Over the years, the festival stage hosted such stars as Elton John, Ray Charles, Liza Minnelli, Dolly Parton, Natalie Cole, Tom Jones, Aretha Franklin, and others. In 2024, the lineup features a country music duo, LOCASH, and an alternative rock band, The Urge. This year, the festival also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the completion of the iconic Eads Bridge, which opened in 1874. The live music concert will run from 4:15 pm to 9:40 pm. The stage is set up near the History Museum in Forest Park.
Airshow
The highlights of the celebration in 2024 also include an airshow, which starts at 2 pm. The lineup includes Ed Hamil, Folds of Honor Biplane, Chuck Coleman and The Extra 300L, Kevin Coleman and The Extra 300L, Red Bull Racer, Tom Larkin Mini Jet, John "Skip" Hyle, Stearman, Jeff Shetterly, T-6, Greg Koontz, Super Decathlon, and Pat McAlee, Pitts.
Fireworks
The culmination of festivities is the mesmerizing fireworks display framed by the iconic Gateway Arch. In 2024, the fireworks start at 9:40 pm. The best locations to watch include waterfront parks and Downtown. To have the best views, you can also go on a fireworks cruise with music and drinks.
