Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival 2024 in Vermont

Take in the atmosphere of the event with around 20 giant hot air balloons floating in the air

Dates: June 14–16, 2024

Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place every year and is the longest-running “must-see” summer event in New England. The skies over Quechee in Vermont and New Hampshire are filled with stunning colorful hot air balloons.

Hot Air Ballon Rides

There are many balloon ride options. Over the weekend, you can choose from a slew of ascensions, starting at 6 pm on Friday and at 6 am and 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tethered balloon rides are also available between ascensions. You can purchase a ticket to the tethered ride only upon arrival. Also, all balloon rides are depending on wind and weather.

Ascension Ride

An Ascension Ride takes about 30-40 minutes, and the whole process lasts approximately 2 hours. During the flight, you will be able to enjoy views of Quechee, VT, and beyond. The ride concludes outside the festival grounds, where guests are offered champagne before being transported back to the festival.

Tethered Balloon Rides

Tethered balloon rides take place on Saturday and Sunday. The balloons, which rise to a height of 50 feet (15 m), are held by long ropes. Therefore, this format is great for young children or elderly people who experience anxiety about longer rides. Each trip lasts 5-10 minutes and costs $25.

Other Entertainment

The Quechee Hot Air Balloon Weekend also features a tremendous Craft & Music Festival with over 60 commercial vendors and craft artisans selling their goods. All this display is usually accompanied by loud music, festival food, and endless entertainment.

For example, attendees can enjoy live performances by Bobby Sheehan, Fred Haas Trio, Lisa Piccirillo, The Funky Flats, Bow Thayer, John Lackard Blues Band, or The Tricksters. Those seeking captivating shows with unique atmospheres should attend the Robert Clarke magic show, LaLoopna Hoops by hoop dancer and fire performer Lee Nangeroni, the Skyhigh Skydivers' acrobatic jumpers show, and much more. There will be a Kids Zone open until 5 pm each day for little ones.

Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival isn't just about balloons, though. It also commemorates the sense of community between balloon aficionados and locals. In addition to learning about the art and science of hot air ballooning, attendees frequently take advantage of the chance to mingle with pilots and take part in other events that go along with the main balloon shows. So, don't forget to book your housing in advance and have a wonderful time!
